Visiting our school
We warmly welcome visits to our school. It is important that you are happy with your choice of school so please do come and look round. Please ring the office for an appointment and we will be happy to arrange this with you.
St Thomas More Voluntary Catholic Academy is a member of St Cuthbert's Roman Catholic Multi Academy Trust within Kingston upon Hull Local Authority.
The school provides a Catholic education for children from a large area in the west of the city, with priority being given to baptised Roman Catholic children living in the West Hull parishes of St Joseph’s, St Wilfrid’s and Corpus Christi, as well as Our Lady of Lourdes in Hessle.
The Board of Directors is responsible for admissions. It is guided in that responsibility by the requirements of the law, by advice from the Diocesan Trustees and its duty to the Catholic community and the Common Good.
The school is of average size, with 185 pupils currently on roll. The children are between the ages of 3 and 11 years old and are taught in single class year groups from Nursery to Year 6. The admission number Foundation Stage to Year 6 is 30. The school also has a 26 place nursery provision. This means that we will be able to provide 15 hours a week of free childcare to children from the term after their 3rd birthday. We also offer an additional 15 hours of free childcare to eligible families (visit www.childcarechoices.gov.uk for more information).
Although the law does not require children to be admitted to school until the beginning of the term following their fifth birthday, the Governing Body being the admissions authority for this school, will admit children into Foundation Stage 2 at the beginning of the Autumn Term following their fourth birthday if it is before 31st August. All admissions will be according to the criteria detailed in the full Admissions Policy which can be located within the 'Policies' section of our website or, obtained from School.
In accordance with the Education Act 2005, children with any form of disability will have equal opportunity for admission to our school.
